Co-op Student – Project Engineering – May Summer 2025 (Vernon)

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
Annual salary: $1,792.24 – $2,257.45 biweekly

The location for this posting is in Vernon, BC
Work as part of our Construction Services Mechanical and Specialty Team, specifically the successful candidate will:
* Collaborate with project planning and coordination team and tradespeople to help deliver construction projects
* Assist with investigating and integrating new technologies into utility work environment
* Find and compile information to better understand technical requirements for various sub-fields of mechanical and civil
work
* Establish field trials and generate prototypes of various products
* Assist with development of business cases to replace large scale assets.
* Assist with planning and coordinating of technical sessions
* Assist with quantifying and analyzing various ergonomic and worker safety improvements
As a Co-op student, you will learn and experience:
* Practical, hands-on work experience directly related to your specific field of study.
* Learning and training opportunities, including opportunities to network with your division.
* Learn all about other divisions and initiatives at BC Hydro.
* Take advantage of the opportunity to explore future career options.
At the end of the co-op term, the students will have excellent first-hand knowledge of the multi-disciplined, fast paced, large
hydropower construction.
What you bring
* To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be enrolled in a Co-op Program and have yet to graduate from a recognized
post-secondary institution in Canada
* Completed a minimum of 2nd year of Engineering studies at an accredited university in Civil, Mechanical, Robotics/
Automation Engineering Degree.
* Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
* Strong communication skills, highly motivated and results oriented.
* This position requires a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
What we offer
* As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.
* All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight
months.
* Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.
Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be
required as a pre-condition to employment.
